Change of Name: All Welcome!

Perceptions of Pregnancy is changing its name. Sort of! We’re sticking with Perceptions of Pregnancy, but have decided to drop the sub-title of ‘From the Medieval to the Modern’. While that worked well for our conference to provide a definite timespan, as we grow the network, we don’t want to alienate potential members. ‘From the Medieval’ is, no doubt, off-putting for those working on even earlier periods. Classicists, etc., are most welcome. Spread the word!

Would a Directory of Members be useful?

With ‘facilitating an international and interdisciplinary conversation’ as one of the stated aims of our network, we have thought about creating a directory of members, accessible via our website. It would include names of members, contact details and research interests, which would allow members to get in touch with other researchers in their field, if they wished.

To gauge the level of interest in such a directory, we have created the polls below and would appreciate if you could take a moment to vote in them. They will remain open for the rest of the week. Feel free to add additional comments in the comments’ box.

Associate Director Wanted

Closing date: Monday, 8 September.

The Perceptions of Pregnancy network has continued to grow in the short time since we formed it. Between us, Jennifer and I have news items and events from Britain and Ireland pretty much covered, but we are keen to ensure that further afield also receives full attention and coverage. Consequently, we are inviting submissions of interest from network members based outside Britain and Ireland to become associate director of the network.

This position would involve keeping up to date with relevant events, latest publications and matters of interest to members for the network email, and maintaining the website.  We are happy to work out a rotating schedule with whomever fills the position.  Please note, this is a voluntary post — although it is a good opportunity to demonstrate international collaboration and editorial activity.

Please send a short email outlining your interest in becoming associate director to by Monday, 8 September. Knowledge / experience of using is advantageous, but not essential. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any queries.
